Color the World
This project is a response to my experiences in the United States after the attacks on September 11th, 2001. The covering of US cities with the American flag had a tremendous impact on me. It made America’s solidarity, patriotism and courage apparent to me. At the same time, it evoked in me a feeling of conservatism that can also draw psychological lines that can make a foreigner feel alienated.
In this work, national icons are placed next to one other in geographical order to make one flag. This flag helps viewers to visualize where are you in the big family of nations, where they are on the earth.
