7th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art

Yuken's work is included in the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art. The show is on until January 18th. If you happen to are in Moscow the coming months please stop by and visit the exhibition.
The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan.


'Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970' at Centre Pompidou Metz

Yuken shows two pieces at the exhibition "Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970" at Centre Pompidou Metz, curated by Yuko Hasegawa.
Torn between a powerful cultural heritage and a national discourse on modernization, alternating between phases of openness and withdrawal, the cultural evolution of Japan in the early 1970s was marked by major social, political and natural events. Exhibition curator Yuko Hasegawa looks back on these turbulent decades during which Japan oscillated between globalisation and affirmation of its identity.


Solo Exhibition: 'Parade From Far Far Away' at Gallery Okinawa
09 December – 17 December 2017

In 2014/15 the Asian Art Museum Berlin invited Yuken to create an exhibition based on their historial Ryûkyû collection, which was assembled in 1884. At the exhibition at Gallery Okinawa, we show the center piece of the Berlin exhibition and works inspired by it, as well as selection of works which have not been shown in Okinawa before.

    An exhibition series at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum explores ties and dynamics of art between Okinawa and Taiwan. This chapter looks into Okinawa's art history and the diversity of artistic strategies in Okinawa's very particular environment.

    An art festival in Okinawa's Hokubu area will show Yuken's work in the old primary school in Shioya, Ogimi-son.
