Collaboration project with Okinawa Times

7th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art

19 September 2017 – 18 January 2018

Yuken's work is included in the 7th Moscow International Biennale of Contemporary Art. The show is on until January 18th. If you happen to are in Moscow the coming months please stop by and visit the exhibition.
The exhibition is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan.


'Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970' at Centre Pompidou Metz

Yuken shows two pieces at the exhibition "Japanorama. A new vision on art since 1970" at Centre Pompidou Metz, curated by Yuko Hasegawa.
Torn between a powerful cultural heritage and a national discourse on modernization, alternating between phases of openness and withdrawal, the cultural evolution of Japan in the early 1970s was marked by major social, political and natural events. Exhibition curator Yuko Hasegawa looks back on these turbulent decades during which Japan oscillated between globalisation and affirmation of its identity.

    A Colossal World: Japanese Artists and New York 1950s–Present

    "A Colossal World" investigates the reciprocal channels of influence established between multiple generations of Japanese artists and the city of New York. This exhibition aims to help trace the evolution of this vibrant exchange from Japan's post-World-War-II economic boom to the present, from mid-century avant-gardes to emerging contemporary artists pushing new boundaries.

    An exhibition series at the Okinawa Prefectural Museum & Art Museum explores ties and dynamics of art between Okinawa and Taiwan. This chapter looks into Okinawa's art history and the diversity of artistic strategies in Okinawa's very particular environment.
