Rat Race Park Project

I would like to propose Rats Race Park at the subway track, a miniaturized playground for rats. I will place the same type of play equipment as you would see at a pet store for hamsters or gerbils on the subway track, including water bottles to supply fresh water.  There will also be lighting equipment to light up the Park.  The subway ties in the area will be painted in bright colors to reflect the colors of the plastic play equipment.

It is a functional playground for rats, but at the same time it is an art object for the subway riders. The subway track becomes a show space. By installing a smaller scale of a familiar looking playground, there is a visual link between rats-pets-people-city life. My goal in this project is to reconsider the underground life of rats at the subway station and  to thus share a feeling of larger community in New York City.
